Hawaiian Sandals: When, Why, And How?

Hawaiian sandals are a wonderful clothing accessory for any warm weather gathering or vacation. They can work for any casual clothing situation. Some places that they are appropriate to wear include luaus, parties, weddings, cruises, and even to work if open toe sandals are allowed.
The best time of year to wear these is spring, summer, and early fall. It’s not recommended for the winter season because the feet will be exposed to cold temperatures. They are versatile for warm weather venues. People on cruises may opt to wear these because they can be matched to a floral patterned shirt.

Hawaiian sandals can be manufactured in Hawaii, but sometimes the term just refers to the style. These may or may not be floral in design. However, the most common type usually has a floral pattern. That does not mean that only women can wear them. This type of sandal is so popular that there is lots of competition in the market.

One Hawaiian sandal company from Hawaii is Pali Hawaii. They had been making sandals for many years and one of their most popular sandal many know of is the Classic Hawaiian sandal or as most people refer them to as the "Jesus sandal".

Men’s Hawaiian sandals can have a more masculine floral pattern with colors that are not feminine. For example, men’s sandals may have a red, blue, or yellow color. Men’s sandals come in larger sizes than women’s and in different styles. Most men will wear a thong sandal as it is more casual. Depending on the manufacturer, they may be made from leather, plastic, or other materials.

Women’s Hawaiian sandals can be in nearly any color and material. Unlike men, they can get away with pretty much all colors. They may have a large synthetic flower on top of them, or just a pattern in the design. They can be strappy or in a flip-flop style. There could also be styles with buckles. Just like with clothing, women normally have more options to choose from than men.

The most important thing to consider when buying a pair is comfort. Of course price must be considered too. If the sandals are not comfortable then it could make the event or party less enjoyable due to blisters and sore feet. No one wants to have a party ruined by that.

If the Hawaiian sandals are new and haven’t been broken in yet, then take a small bandage with you in each pocket just in case. It is recommended to take one for each foot to be prepared for anything. If there will be a lot of physical exercise or walking, the sandal that is purchased should be soft and flexible. It is advised to get a pair with cushions on the soles to help prevent aching feet.

If Hawaiian sandals are needed for a wedding or party where there will be mostly sitting and talking with friends, then it is okay to get a harder and less flexible style of sandal. As far as price is concerned, the brand and the materials will make the largest difference in regards to the cost.

Generally cloth and plastic sandals are the most affordable, and leather is the most expensive. The amount of décor is not necessarily related to the cost either. It is often based on the quality of the product and not what it looks like.

Before purchasing a pair of Hawaiian sandals, think about what type of use they will be for. If it is for parties then less durable sandals can be considered. However, if it is for a vacation in the islands or elsewhere, then go for comfort. No one wants to end up with “luau feet” from sandals that couldn’t take the amount of walking required. That is a sure way to ruin the experience.
